End the Legislative Attacks on LGBTQ Texans!
Bills that target LGBTQ Texans, particularly transgender youth, are progressing at a rapid pace in the Texas Legislature. Discrimination and hate should not be Texas values. Tell the Legislature to stop the attacks!
A wave of anti-LGBTQ bills is moving through the Texas Legislature. Nine bills that target the lives and livelihoods of LGBTQ Texans moved in the last two weeks alone. The time to act is now. We must tell Speaker Phelan and every member of the Legislature that we will not stand for it!
Some of the bills progressing include:
- SB 29 and HB 4042, bills that would mandate school sports participation by sex assigned at birth, ending fair participation for transgender and gender non-conforming youth.
- SB 1646 and HB 1399, bills that would effectively ban affirming, life-saving medical and transition care for transgender youth and force that care on intersex youth.
- HB 610, a bill that would allow any licensed professional to disregard local non-discrimination protections if it poses an "adverse economic impact."
- HB 1424, a bill that would allow any healthcare professional to refuse a procedure based on any moral, ethical or religious objection - even critical life-saving care.
- HB 3940, a bill that would allow those licensed by the State Bar of Texas to refuse service to anyone based on "sincerely held religious belief."
Send your members of the Legislature a note today! Call Speaker Phelan at (512) 463-1000 and tell him to stop all the anti-LGBTQ bills!
Given COVID restrictions, contacting your representative through e-mail and phone calls is even more important this year. We need every LGBTQ and ally voice to be heard to stop these bills. Time is ticking in the legislative session to stop these bills from moving forward.
