Tell the Texas Legislature NO to Attacks on Trans Youth!
Transgender and gender non-conforming youth deserve to be protected under the law. Tell your elected representatives we will not tolerate legislative attacks this session!
Even with issues such as the budget and coronavirus response looming, some in the Texas Legislature are still finding time to file bills that attack transgender and gender non-conforming youth. Some bills so far include:
- HB 68, a bill that would create a criminal penalty for providing affirming medical care for transgender youth. This would virtually end transition-related care for minors in Texas.
- HB 1399, a bill that would make it impossible for medical providers to get professional liability insurance to provide affirming care.
- SB 29, HB 1458 and SB 373, bills that ban transgender athlete participation in school sports by mandating segregation by sex assigned at birth. These bills promote fear and mistrust where no problem exists.
Given COVID restrictions, contacting your representative through e-mail and phone calls is even more important this year. Tell your story and take a moment to personalize this draft letter to your legislator!
